The Benefits of Rotating Tires

The Benefits of Rotating Tires

A tire rotation is an act of regularly changing the position of the tires on your vehicle. So why should you rotate your tires? Tires mounted on the front wear differently than those in the rear. You want to do the most you can to promote even wear across your tire tread pattern. For your tires to wear evenly you must get them rotated. Doing so maximizes your investment and extends the life of your tires. Uneven wear can cause increased vibration that you may feel on the road and in your steering wheel. Cars with consistently rotated tires have a better handle and provide a smoother ride, providing comfort and safety. If these automotive reasons aren’t enough, just think of your wallet! Not only do you get better gas mileage from evenly worn tires, but you’ll also have to buy them less often because your set lasts longer. Each vehicle may have different rotational patterns and may require rotations and different intervals. For more info on that check our previous tire r ... read more

The different types of power steering

The different types of power steering

The invention of power steering is what helps drivers control our powerful vehicles. Power steering allows us to maintain our heavy cars with less effort and more control. To date, there are three common types of power steering. All three power steering systems perform the same task. They just use different technology to get the job done. While the traditional hydraulic power steering pump isn't as commonplace as it used to be, let's compare and contrast it with what electronic power steering has to offer. Let's start with the classic hydraulic power steering fluid. Uses pressurized hydraulic fluid to assist with turning Powered by the serpentine belt or accessory drive The most common form of power steering from the 50's to early 2000s Prone to leaks Continuously running pump is wasted energy This wasted energy leads to wasted fuel and higher emissions The more modern electric power steering is fully powered by an electric motor that's attached to the steer ... read more
