Over time you begin to notice your vehicle shake while driving. What’s the cause of this? To determine WHY your car is shaking you need to look at WHEN your car is shaking. If you only feel a vibration when you’re braking, that’s an indicator that it may be time to replace your pads or rotors. A shaking steering wheel is a good indicator that your brake rotors have warped and it may be time for a replacement. Occasionally your brake caliper can stick. The stick becomes more noticeable at higher speeds and can be accompanied by a burning smell. A shaking steering wheel doesn’t always mean that it’s a brake issue. Struts, ball joints, bearings, and tie rods can all be responsible for steering wheel shake. Your tires and wheels are another issue that can be responsible for vehicle vibration. When driving the last thing you want is to do is have to hold your steering wheel in place because your car pulls to the right or left. Not only is this frustrating, it's dangerous. What’s the cause of this? Like most auto problems, this can be from a variety of issues. An alignment may appear to be the most common fix, but that’s not always the case. Alignments keep your tires even with one another and the ground. A misaligned wheel can cause your vehicle to pull. If your vehicle goes between pulling to the left and the right then most likely a misaligned vehicle isn’t the issue. Another common reason for vehicle pull is uneven air pressure in your tires. If the pressure on one side of the vehicle is over or under inflated, this can cause your vehicle to pull to the right or left. Abnormal tire wear is a result of a misaligned vehicle.
